of Marriage

NIM was originally founded by Dr. Greg Smalley as the Smalley Marriage Institute a 501(c)3 nonprofit minsitry.  The original team previously worked at the Smalley Relationship Center where, led by Dr. Robert S. Paul, they developed the Christian Marriage Counseling programs we call Intensives.  Today the Intensive program is the cornerstone of all products and services offered at NIM.

At NIM we provide Marriage Counseling, Marriage Conferences, Pastoral Training, books, articles and various other marriage resources.

Christian Marriage Counseling

All of our programs are Christian-based, but our focus is not to convert people in the counseling sessions.  People of many different faiths have had powerful experiences in our marriage counseling programs.  We do not hide from what we believe to be the truth, but we also honor the positions of others and do not talk about anything the participants don’t want to discuss.  NIM is proud of the fact that our team is made up of Christian Marriage Counselors that have dedicated their lives to serving the Lord and making a difference in lives of others.  Find out more about what we believe in our Statement of Faith.

NIM Marriage Counselors

Our team of marriage counselors consists of Psychologists, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Licensed Professional Counselors. They have a wide variety of training and experience but are all dedicated to one single passion, saving marriages and making an eternal difference in the lives of people through our highly acclaimed Intensive marriage counseling programs.

From Marital Egypt to the Promised Land

February 14, 2007
by Dr. Bob Paul

Almost everybody enters marriage with high hopes and expectations for a wonderful relationship. My wife Jenni and I certainly did. We began life together with big dreams for our future. Unfortunately, in spite of hoping that “I do” would assure living “happily ever after,” we hit some bumps in the road. Familiar patterns began to emerge in our conflicts.

Why Marriage is Good for Us

October 26, 2007 by Dr. Brett Sparks, Intensive Therapist

Did you know that the rate of marriages today is on the decline?  Statistics indicate that fewer folks are choosing to enter into holy matrimony these days when compared to just 20 years ago.  The reasons are varied, but certainly there is a lot of skepticism that marriage is good.  We have tended to focus often on the problems in marriage and may forget that there is more to the story.
